How We Measure Readiness

The Recovery Readiness Score tracks three critical biological pillars to ensure you're training effectively without risk of injury.

Sleep Architecture

Sleep is the primary driver of hormonal recovery. Disrupted sleep architecture (lack of REM or Deep sleep) directly impacts HRV and central nervous system output.

Peripheral Fatigue

Muscle soreness is a proxy for mechanical damage. High levels of peripheral fatigue can lead to compensation patterns, increasing injury risk during intense movements.

CNS Freshness

Your mental focus reflects the state of your Central Nervous System. A "foggy" brain often indicates a sympathetic nervous system that is overworked and under-recovered.

The Science of Readiness-Based Training

Modern biohacking isn't about pushing through pain—it's about training intelligently based on real-time physiological data. Your Readiness Score provides a qualitative baseline for what wearables often miss: subjective perception.

Research shows that athletes who adjust their training volume and cold therapy duration based on daily readiness scores experience 34% fewer injuries and significantly higher long-term performance gains.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time to take the assessment?
Ideally, you should take the assessment within 60 minutes of waking up. This provides the clearest picture of your recovery state before the stresses of the day influence your perception.
Should I cold plunge if my score is below 40?
We generally recommend avoiding deep cold (sub-50°F) when your score is very low, as it can be an additional stressor your CNS isn't ready to handle. Opt for mild contrast therapy or a warmer 'cool' plunge (60°F) instead.
Can I use this instead of a wearable like Oura or Whoop?
This tool is designed to complement wearables. Wearables measure objective data like HRV, but they often miss subjective data like specific muscle soreness or mental motivation. Using both gives you the most complete picture.
How often should my score be in the 'Peak' range?
It's normal to fluctuate. If you are training hard, you might spend 2-3 days a week in the Peak range and the rest in Moderate or Recovery. If you are consistently below 40, you likely need a deload week.
